KBH Metro Partner, Bringing Together Two World Leaders In Automated Metros, Prequalified to Bid For Future Copenhagen Metro Operations

  • Consortium KBH Metro Partner, formed by RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro, has been officially prequalified to bid for the operations and maintenance contract of the Copenhagen Metro.
  • Both partners bring extensive experience from major metro projects in cities such as Paris, Singapore, Riyadh, and Lyon.
  • The bid marks the third collaboration between RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro on complex rail projects, building on their successful joint ventures in Greater Paris (Line 15 South) and Singapore (Jurong Region Line).

SINGAPORE, 16 September 2025 – KBH Metro Partner, the consortium formed by RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro, has officially been prequalified to bid for the upcoming operations and maintenance contract for the Copenhagen Metro. The contract will shape the future of one of Europe’s most admired automated metro systems.

Competing against a strong field of international applicants, this prequalification marks a milestone in the tender process and reflects the pertinence of KBH Metro Partner’s experience and expertise in operating complex metro systems.

With rapid growth in passenger numbers, KBH Metro Partners intends to demonstrate how the consortium partners’ know-how in operational performance, system integration, digital solutions and beyond will not only meet but exceed expectations of Copenhagen Metro users.

Kristin Thorslund, RATP Dev Senior Vice President for Nordics and Ireland: “Copenhagen Metro was among the first systems with driverless metros and remains a bona fide global reference in this high-capacity mode of transport. We are delighted to be prequalified and have the opportunity to work closely with Metroselskabet in the next stage of the tender process. Our North Star remains delivering continued high operational stability and an exceptional passenger experience for the hundreds of thousands of passengers using the network on a daily basis.”

Peter Lodge, Group Chief Business Development Officer (Bus and Rail), ComfortDelGro said “Being prequalified for the Copenhagen Metro contract alongside RATP Dev demonstrates the strength of our proven rail expertise. Our track record in Singapore and across our global network will position us well to deliver reliable, customer centric, and efficient metro operations for Copenhagen passengers. This partnership builds on our successful collaborations and reflects our commitment to mobility for a better future through world-class transportation solutions.”

The bid to operate Copenhagen Metro marks the third time that RATP Dev and ComfortDelGro will combine their global expertise and local knowledge to deliver complex rail projects, efficient asset management, and exceptional service. The two companies have a proven history of successful collaboration on major projects in Greater Paris and Singapore: as part of the ORA consortium with Alstom, to manage the Greater Paris Metro’s automated Line 15 South; and through Singapore One Rail partnership to operate and maintain the new Jurong Region Line in the city-state.

Backed by its parent company RATP Group, RATP Dev brings a proven track record in managing high-capacity urban transit systems, complex projects, and automated metro networks in cities including Paris, Sydney, Doha and Riyadh. Recent technical feats include the simultaneous extension and re-automation of ultra-dense Line 14 in Paris, without major service disruption, ahead of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the successful opening of Lines 1 and 2 of Riyadh Metro, which have carried over 60 million passengers in the first nine months of operation within the 176 km long fully-automated six-line network. In Lyon, following a smooth takeover of metro operations in 2025, RATP Dev is supporting the public transport authority in transforming the network with the automation and modernization of three lines and development of digitalization and predictive maintenance technologies to maximize train availability and minimize the interval between metros.

In Singapore, through its subsidiary SBS Transit, ComfortDelGro has operated Singapore’s Northeast Line, the world’s first fully automated heavy-rail metro system and the first metro line in Singapore to achieve the global benchmark of over 1 million ‘mean kilometers between failures’ (MKBF) for over 20 years. It also operates Singapore’s Downtown Line which is rated one of the most reliable metros globally since 2021 (8.149 million train MKBF in 2024). Outside of Singapore, the Group operates Auckland One Rail and will commence operation of the Tunnelbana, Stockholm’s iconic metro network, at the end of this year. In total, ComfortDelGro has over 382km of track in operation or under mobilisation across Singapore, New Zealand, France and Sweden.
